Swap some saturated fat, not every oil on the shelf

The stronger evidence concerns reducing saturated fat over time. It does not establish that rotating oils or adding a specialty oil extends life.

AN ACTION TO CONSIDER

Replace some butter or lard with unsaturated plant oils, rather than buying oils for special health promises.

Reducing saturated fat lowered combined cardiovascular events by about 17% in randomized trials.

Why consider it?

The Cochrane review pooled trials lasting at least 2 years. The relative reduction concerns combined cardiovascular events, not a reduction in total deaths, which was not clearly established. It supports the broader dietary change; the quoted effect is not assigned to a specific cooking oil. Certainty for the combined cardiovascular-event finding was moderate.

Adaptation: Rewritten in English from the locked Chinese original; retained evidence grade and study limits. Effect sizes quoted from the cited source: estimates are kept in their original comparison and population; observational associations are not described as proven personal gains. r3 AI review: Limited the action to unsaturated plant oils and clarified the moderate certainty of the combined-event finding.
