Swap in some whole grains
A partial swap is a practical starting point. The published comparison concerns differences in habitual intake, not the outcome of your next bowl.
Replace some refined rice or flour foods with whole-grain versions.
Each 90 g/day higher whole-grain food intake was associated with about 17% lower all-cause mortality risk.
Why consider it?
The prospective-study meta-analysis reports a dose-response relative risk. This is not a randomized trial of a partial grain swap, and healthier whole-grain eaters may differ in other ways. Results varied substantially across studies; the quoted association does not establish the same benefit from your diet change.
