Meet people instead of overpredicting chemistry
Pre-meeting preferences could predict general popularity better than the spark between a specific pair. Meeting is how you learn what the profile cannot tell you.
Meet more people in person rather than betting everything on a profile or ideal-type checklist.
Pre-meeting questionnaires explained 4%–18% of general romantic desire differences, but not pair-specific chemistry.
Why consider it?
The speed-dating studies used self-reported traits and preferences among Western university students. The percentages refer to variance in a person's general tendency to like others, not match success or an effect of dating more people. Pair-specific attraction was not predicted from those measures.
