Give everyday movement some effort
Short bursts count as activity too. The cited finding concerns people who did not do structured exercise, rather than adding more work to an established training plan.
If you do not exercise regularly, include brief vigorous activity in ordinary trips or stair climbs.
In non-exercisers, 4.4 minutes of daily vigorous activity was associated with 26%–30% lower mortality risks.
Why consider it?
The wrist-recorded UK Biobank cohort reported that range for all-cause and cancer mortality, relative to no vigorous intermittent lifestyle activity. It is observational, not proof of the gain from a daily timer. The study cannot establish the same effect for people already exercising regularly. Participants were mainly middle-aged and older adults.

Original item: chapter 2, item 15 ↗Adaptation: Rewritten in English from the locked Chinese original; retained evidence grade and study limits. Effect sizes quoted from the cited source: estimates are kept in their original comparison and population; observational associations are not described as proven personal gains. r3 AI review: Clarified the age context; marketing must retain non-exercisers, both mortality outcomes and the no-activity comparison.
