Fit walking into the day you already have
You do not need to make walking a separate project. The study compares people with different activity levels; it does not predict your personal payoff.
Build walking into commuting, errands and ordinary trips.
A median of 7842 versus 3553 daily steps was associated with 45% lower all-cause mortality hazard in cohort data.
Why consider it?
The prospective-cohort meta-analysis compared that group with a lowest group whose median was 3553 steps daily. The percentages describe a relative association, not an effect established by assigning extra steps. Poor health can lead to lower activity and may inflate the apparent benefit; the observed medians are not precise personal targets.
