Check how the relationship feels from inside
Your experience of the relationship says more about its current quality than a checklist of personal traits. It still cannot reliably predict how the relationship will change.
Assess commitment, appreciation, satisfaction and conflict instead of only checking a partner's credentials.
Relationship-specific self-reports explained up to 45% of variation in initial relationship quality.
Why consider it?
The longitudinal-couple analysis used machine learning across datasets. The percentage is explained variance, not a gain in relationship quality or a prediction for a particular couple. Predicting later improvement or decline was much harder. The study does not prove that asking these questions improves a relationship.
